Quilting By The Gulf XX, a festival featuring more than 200 handcrafted quilts in a multitude of sizes, shapes and themes will be held Mar. 2 & 3, 2024. Original designs and international patterns will be judged for quilters' to view, learn and be inspired at the Venice Community Center, Venice FL. Locally made, with many new designs, The quilts will provide examples of traditional, modern and art quilts made by members. Also, a member designed and made Opportunity Quilt, “Sunshine and Sea Breezes”, will be raffled on Sunday. (Winner need not be present.) Other attractions include, hundreds of handmade items and unique gifts will be available in the popular Boutique; while merchants will showcase new and unusual sewing and quilting items, including fabrics and new designs, Additionally, A Basket Walk; Blocks in A Bag, and the sale of recycled Quilting Books and Magazines will tease attendees’ creative juices.
Proceeds from a two day silent auction of member made mini quilts will be donated to the South County Food Pantry, while proceeds from the show help support VAQG’s community outreach efforts for Children First (formerly known as Head Start), Our Mother’s House, Guardian Ad Litem, Tidewell Hospice and several veteran’s groups. On site, Café offers a quiet respite to rest weary feet.
